August 10

I can’t believe what I did today.  It wasn’t out of the ordinary for most people but it was for me.  I spent a long time in the pool swimming and then went directly into the ocean.  The ocean was so warm it wasn’t even refreshing.  After that and a walk along the beach I went back into the pool again.

To top it all off, I am afraid to say I have become my husband – having no difficulty in napping.  I read a couple of pages and fell asleep.  Woke up a half hour later to read five or six pages and fell asleep.  This went on for a few hours before I needed a break from all the napping so I left Steve between the pool and the ocean and I headed back to the room to lie down.

When Steve returned to the room we went online to find out how the tsunami of 2004 affected Krabi.  There were over 400 people killed here that day.  Being here we can understand how that could happen.  People are just so relaxed and unworried.  The movement of the sea was an interesting sight rather than something to be feared.  Right now I am thinking that unless you can scale cliffs you wouldn’t be able to get away from it.  Unlike Phuket with what seemed to be higher storied hotels, the few hotels here on Krabi appear to be 2 stories high.

Well, we went for another little walk on the east side of this tiny paradise.  That is where the bars are, but they are more like little huts where you have to sit on the floor.  My back wouldn’t be able to withstand that so we are heading back to our resort’s happy hour to sit in chairs and look out over the ocean.  How dull are we?

Tomorrow we go on a 7 hours boat trip.  Steve will be snorkeling.  I will be taking pictures.

I can't wait to read about the rest of our adventures, especially where you found your relatives. Has it been written and I just can't find it?
